Introduction

Aaron L. Frenz, MD, is a board certified psychiatrist who has worked both at McLean Hospital and in private practice. He currently has availability to patients seeking help with both therapy and medication management for weekly 50 minute sessions both in-person and virtually His therapy style is eclectic - drawing on his training in psychodynamic, relational, CBT and DBT strategies. His goal is to try to gain a mutual understanding of the patient's past and current circumstances and collaboratively find a way for the person to became their healthiest version of themselves. When dealing with medication, Dr. Frenz's belief is keeping medication to as few as possible and doses as low as possible, but still functioning. If you are currently on high doses of medication or daily benzodiazapines, he will help you reduce these doses safely. He has been on the faculty in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, where he has taught and supervised psychiatric residents. He works with all adults from age 19 to 65, and specializes in three main groups: 1) College and graduate students 2) Professionals experiencing depression and burnout – especially physicians and other medical professionals and 3) Adults with depression and anxiety disorders. Dr. Frenz has served in inpatient, outpatient, and residential capacities over the last few decades. He has followed outpatients in both medication management and therapy, worked as a psychiatrist within the CEC, and spent four years working as the associate medical director at the Ambulatory Treatment Center at Naukeag, a dual-diagnosis, residential, alcohol and drug abuse facility.
