Introduction

I’m Abi, a pastor’s kid and a special needs sibling, and from a young age I developed a heart for caring for others and helping them find hope and healing. I earned my degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and completed my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University. I am now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT Associate) under the supervision of Christy Birgen. Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years working in ministry, where I saw firsthand how faith, community, and relationships shape our lives. I believe we are at our best when we are connected to others. Community offers us insight into who we truly are and reminds us that healing happens through relationship, not isolation. I love meeting new people and forming genuine connections, and I hope to help others experience that same sense of belonging in their own lives. My work is deeply rooted in attachment theory, which looks at how our earliest and most important relationships shape the way we connect, love, and respond to others. When we understand our attachment patterns, how we reach for connection, handle distance, or respond to emotional needs, we can begin to form healthier, more secure relationships. I often use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help individuals and couples strengthen their emotional bonds and create new patterns of connection that feel safe and lasting. My approach is grounded in faith and the belief that God designed us for relationships: with Him and with one another. I am especially passionate about supporting couples, families in ministry, women, and special needs families. My goal is to provide a warm, compassionate space where clients can feel seen, understood, and empowered to experience healing and deeper connection in every area of life.
