Introduction

Abby is a Resident in Counseling who specializes in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, behavioral difficulties, anxiety, chronic illness, and grief. Abby implements trauma-informed care utilizing play and art-based therapy techniques, emotion regulation strategies, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Abby strives to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for all her clients. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington and her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling degree at George Mason University. She has experience supporting neurodivergent children in both school-based and clinical settings, including work at the University of Washington Autism Center and within Fairfax County Public Schools special education programs. Abby completed her clinical internship at Inova Life with Cancer and has a particular interest in supporting children and families impacted by medical diagnoses and grief. Abby was a military child and had the opportunity to live all over the country! In her free time, Abby enjoys painting, reading, soaking up the sun, and playing board games with her husband.
