You may have gotten good at functioning while not feeling okay. The worry that won’t shut off, the low mood you’ve stopped mentioning, the impulses you keep promising yourself you’ll get a handle on, the quiet sense that you’re falling short of who you’re supposed to be. Sometimes there’s something older underneath it- an experience, or a stretch of years, that you’ve never fully put down and have simply learned to work around. From the outside things may look fine. Inside, it’s exhausting, and it can be hard to imagine that talking to someone would actually change it. I work with adults who are ready for something to be different but aren’t sure where to start. Therapy with me is warm and direct, and it’s collaborative – you set the goals, and I bring evidence-based tools like cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and positive psychology, tailored to what you actually need rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol. When trauma is part of the picture, we move at your pace, in a way that supports healing without asking you to relive what you’ve already survived. And as both a licensed professional counselor and a licensed independent addiction counselor, I’m equipped to address mental health and substance use together when both are present. Clients often tell me they feel heard and accepted here, which is what makes the harder conversations possible. Every session is meant to give you both insight and something concrete to take with you.
