I am a Mexican American, English/Spanish bilingual, and bicultural Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Professional Life Coach, and Certified Death Doula. My experience includes working with undocumented immigrants; individuals, couples, families, children and youth; substance abuse/recovery; HIV/AIDS issues; queer issues (such as coming out, same sex couples, and acceptance); and holistic, non-medical end-of-life services. I have over 20 years experience in social services, and 15 years experience working with individuals, couples, and families in the non-profit sector. I hold a Bachelor's of Arts in Social Work from San Francisco State University (2011) and a Master's of Art in Counseling from Saint Mary's College of California (2015). My master's degree project was titled, Expressive Art Therapy for Survivors of Domestic Violence. I continue to work in both Contra Costa County's mental health services and community-based organizations as a certified bilingual clinician. In 2026 I became a certified Death Doula, also called an End-of-Life Doula. A death doula provides holistic, non-judgmental, non-medical support to those nearing the end of life. They empower men and women to consider what a "good death" means to them and then support them as they seek that goal. They encourage those with life-ending illness to make the most of their last years, months, weeks, or days, so they can pass in peace. They also support the friends and family of the dying.
