I am a licensed professional counselor with a background in philosophy. I graduated from Denver Seminary with a degree in clinical mental health counseling and a certificate in theology. For the past 13 years, I have worked at the VA Denver Vet Center, helping clients with combat-related PTSD, military sexual trauma, and personality disorders. I also have a private practice, Marquezian Heart and Mind, where I specialize in borderline personality disorder. Although I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I often find that it is not the most effective approach for treating individuals with BPD. Instead, I have developed my own approach that emphasizes helping clients build and strengthen their sense of self, which has been incredibly helpful for many of my clients. emphasizes the building and installation of a person’s identity/sense of self, which many of my clients have found to be immensely helpful.
