Introduction

Adriene Lyons earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Hiram College in Ohio. Following that, Adriene pursued a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Non-Directive Play Therapy from Lipscomb University in Tennessee. During her studies, she began working in a community-based organization focused on providing preventative in-home therapy to youth and their families. She continued that work until becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in North Carolina. She is also licensed in Tennessee, Virginia, and can see clients in South Carolina through Telehealth only. Adriene and her spouse currently reside near Nashville, TN. As a systemic and relationship therapist, Adriene primarily provides Emotionally Focused Therapy. Through an attachment lens, she is passionate about holding space with families, couples, and individuals as they explore the relational effects of their family, community, and societal systems. Adriene believes that no one exists in a vacuum. Working together, she and her clients consider the interconnectedness of the people, institutions, and communities with whom they interact and belong. Adriene provides therapy to those experiencing conflict in romantic relationships, specifically BIPOC and queer-identifying couples. She has extensive experience working with both individuals and families as they navigate and reflect on the caregiver-child relationship. As a clinician, Adriene is committed to maintaining a safe space for her clients to give voice to their experience as they explore the areas of racial, societal, intergenerational, and religious traumas.
