Hi, I'm Ajay Kapoor — a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and National Certified Counselor (NCC), practicing under the supervision of Michael Moyer, LPC-S, as required by Texas licensure. My job is to build a space honest and safe enough for this important work to happen. I work with individuals, adolescents, and children who are navigating some of life's harder chapters — trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, substance use, and the kind of pain that doesn't always have a name yet. I also work with adults who are trying to understand how their past is showing up in their present, and who are ready to do something about it. My work is shaped by a deep commitment to culturally responsive care — which means I take seriously how identity, culture, and systems shape your experience, and I won't ask you to leave any of that at the door. What I Work With Trauma & PTSD Whether it's a single event or years of accumulated experiences, trauma changes how you see yourself and the world. I use trauma-focused approaches — including IFS and experiential therapy — to help you process what happened without being overwhelmed by it. Anxiety Racing thoughts, avoidance, the weight of trying to hold everything together — anxiety shows up differently for everyone. We'll work on understanding your specific patterns and building skills that actually stick. Depression & Mood Disorders When getting through the day feels like an accomplishment, something needs to shift. I help people reconnect with motivation, meaning, and the version of themselves they thought they lost — using approaches grounded in ACT, DBT, and strengths-based therapy. Couples, Sex & Intimacy Whether you're navigating conflict, rebuilding trust, working through intimacy challenges, or just trying to feel connected again, couples work is about creating a space where both people can be honest. I also work with individuals exploring questions around sex, desire, and kink/diverse sexualities. LGBTQ+ Identity & Affirming Care Therapy should never require you to shrink who you are. I provide affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating identity, coming out, relationships, family dynamics, and the unique stressors that come with living in a world that doesn't always make space. Children, Adolescents & Teens Young people don't always have the language for what they're feeling, but that doesn't mean they aren't feeling it deeply. I work with kids and teens on behavioral issues, school-related stress, grief, family conflict, self-harm, and identity development — meeting them where they are. Relationships, Family & Life Transitions Parents who are trying to connect with their kids. Individuals going through divorce, career changes, or the kind of shift that makes you question everything. I offer family counseling alongside individual work. Substance Use & Addiction As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, I understand addiction as a pattern that made sense at some point — and that you can outgrow. I work with alcohol use, substance use, and behavioral addictions, integrating recovery with the rest of your mental health care.
