Introduction

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. I’m Alethea Braun-Dunagan, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families build stronger connections, overcome obstacles, and achieve their full potential. Whether you are seeking personal healing, navigating family dynamics, or looking for guidance through a major life transition, I offer a warm, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. I bring extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and college students. Young people today face unique pressures—from managing academic stress and peer relationships to navigating self-esteem, family expectations, and the critical transition into university life and early adulthood. I specialize in providing age-appropriate support, youth advocacy, and practical guidance to help students and young adults build emotional resilience, manage stress, and establish clear educational, career, and personal goals. Alongside my work with youth and university students, a central pillar of my practice is guiding couples and families through relational stress, communication breakdowns, and structural changes. In couples therapy, I help partners improve dialogue, resolve recurring conflict, rebuild trust, and restore emotional intimacy. In family counseling, I assist parents, children, and teens in setting healthy boundaries, strengthening mutual understanding, and repairing bonds to restore balance across the entire household. My clinical approach relies heavily on evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tailored to your specific needs. My practice also offers specialized care in women’s mental health—including navigating postpartum mood disorders—and structured relapse prevention for individuals recovering from addictions. Grounded in a culturally responsive framework, I am deeply committed to honoring and supporting clients from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. Location & Telehealth Access I welcome clients for in-person therapy in Flagstaff, Arizona, and provide secure, confidential online therapy (telehealth) to individuals, couples, and families throughout Arizona, Ohio, Minnesota, Georgia, and Louisiana. Need help getting started? In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as an intake specialist. If you're unsure what type of therapy you need or where to begin, I am happy to help guide you through the process and match you or your family with the therapist best suited for your care.
