Introduction

I am most passionate about working with teens and young adults who struggle with anxiety and life transitions. Together, we can work on developing coping skills for emotional regulation through Art Therapy. I hold a master’s in psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy /Art Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute. I completed my undergraduate work at Mount St. Mary’s College (now, Mount St. Mary’s University) and received a bachelor’s in psychology. Before my graduate studies, I worked at a group home for four years with adolescent males on probation. The unforgettable experience as a residential counselor led me to my passion for working with at-risk youth in greater Los Angeles. While in graduate school, I continued to work with at-risk youth, co-facilitating art-focused anger management groups, and art therapy groups. I then provided individual therapy to elementary-aged children and teens and their families in a school-based program during my practicum. This experience provided me with a unique opportunity to showcase my talents as an art therapist, creating individualized client-focused art therapy interventions. I was also fortunate to be the recipient of the 2013-14 California Educational MFT Stipend for the Greater Los Angeles Consortium. I gained my clinical experience working with various DMH contracted agencies. I provide individual and family psychotherapy to children aged 3-18 and their families in their homes, school, and clinical settings, both in English and Spanish. I later returned to my passion for residential treatment with at-risk youth and a treatment center for addictions as a residential therapist. My theoretical orientation is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while frequently borrowing from Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness-based therapy. I was trained Seeking Safety and RRSR (Recognizing and Responding to Suicide Risk) by the Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles County. I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) and AATA (American Art Therapy Association).
