Introduction

Hi, I'm Alexandra Herrera McGrath, LMFT. I believe that many of the struggles we experience in adulthood are not random. The ways we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us are often shaped by family dynamics, attachment experiences, significant life events, and the beliefs we developed along the way. My passion is helping adults identify and transform the patterns that influence their relationships, overall well-being, and sense of self. By increasing awareness of these patterns, clients can begin creating meaningful change, healthier relationships, greater fulfillment, and a stronger connection to themselves. Through a family systems lens, I help clients explore how family dynamics, childhood experiences, trauma, subconscious beliefs, and relational patterns continue to influence their current relationships, emotional experiences, behaviors, and life satisfaction. Together, we work to increase self-awareness, challenge limiting beliefs, strengthen self-worth, and create healthier ways of relating to ourselves and others. Many of the individuals I work with come to therapy feeling stuck in ways of relating, thinking, or responding that no longer serve them. They may struggle with relationship challenges, family conflict, boundary setting, people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, or a persistent feeling that something is holding them back from living the life they desire. Often, these struggles are rooted in deeper beliefs, relational dynamics, and coping strategies that deserve curiosity, compassion, and exploration rather than judgment. A significant part of my professional experience has involved supporting individuals and families impacted by addiction, mental health challenges, and recovery. I have had the privilege of working with individuals navigating their own recovery journey as well as loved ones seeking healing, support, and clarity while caring about someone facing addiction or mental health concerns. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful and lasting change begins with awareness. I strive to honor each person's unique and sacred journey while creating a space where clients feel supported in exploring the experiences, beliefs, and relational patterns that have shaped them. Therapy is not about fixing what is broken; it is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself, healing old wounds, and moving forward with greater intention and freedom. Whether you are seeking support for relationship concerns, family dynamics, personal growth, self-worth, addiction-related challenges, or simply a deeper understanding of yourself, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey. Healing is not about becoming someone different. It is about reconnecting with who you are beneath the patterns that no longer serve you. A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available based on financial need and current availability. Please contact me to discuss whether a sliding-scale option may be appropriate.
