I'm Alexis Fernandez, a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor at Center For Therapeutic Change. I chose to become a counselor because I wanted to be the person I wish others had when life felt heavy. I believe everyone deserves a space to slow down, be present, find peace, and create meaningful change. If you’re looking for a counselor who will walk alongside you through life’s ups and downs, I’d be honored to be part of your journey. Throughout my life, I've had the opportunity to support people in many ways, the biggest being as a teacher, ABA, manager, mom, and wife. These experiences have shaped me into the person and counselor that I am today. I bring openness, respect, unconditional positive regard, and acceptance to the therapy room. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and concentration in child and adolescent development as well as a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I take an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to meet each client's individual needs. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, and I incorporate attachment theory to better understand how early relational experiences influence present-day relationships, emotional responses, and sense of self. I work with individuals, parents, and couples facing anxiety, trauma, and life transitions such as pregnancy, postpartum changes, infertility, and relationship or family conflict. I support children and adults with ADHD, addiction, grief, depression, OCD, and stress while building coping skills and emotional resilience. Therapy with me is collaborative and supportive, focused on trauma and PTSD, anxiety, and pregnancy or postpartum concerns. I use evidence-based approaches to help clients feel more grounded, reduce overwhelm, and build coping skills in a safe, compassionate space. What is included in my integrative approach? Trauma-Informed Care (determines the root as we peel back layers) CBT (for reframing irrational thoughts and patterns in behavior) ACT (to move beyond negative thoughts and feelings in a meaningful way)
