Alicia is a licensed clinical social worker, board-certified dance/movement therapist and graduate Laban certified movement analyst. She has experience working with children and families in DCFS, adults in inpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs, individual and group outpatient therapy as well as members of the LGBTQIAA community. Alicia graduated with a bachelors in Sociology and Spanish from North Central College in Naperville. She then continued on to receive her Masters in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as her Alternate Route Dance/Movement Therapy Certificate and Graduate Laban Certified Movement Analyst certificate from Columbia College in Chicago. Alicia has a client focused approach to therapy, where she often utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities such as strengths based therapy, solutions focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dance/movement therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. She also helps clients to identify healthy relationship qualities and techniques to support them in their path to wellness. In Alicia’s sessions, she often utilizes compassion, openness, acceptance, and caring with her clients. She gives them permission to feel comfortable as the person they are and support them in growing in whichever direction is best for their lives right now. She believes it is her job as a therapist to support clients in exploring what will help them to be healthiest in their lives. She also supports clients in identifying how they can continue to work towards their well-being in their lives outside of the therapy session.
