Introduction

Dr. Parsons is a licensed psychologist specializing in evidence-based psychotherapy for older adolescents and adults. Her clinical work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a strong focus on helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. She also treats a range of other mental health concerns, tailoring treatment to each person’s unique needs and goals. In addition to ACT, Dr. Parsons is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a well-researched, specialized treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress. She also provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold-standard, non-medication treatment for chronic sleep difficulties. All treatment approaches are informed by current scientific research and delivered with careful attention to clinical effectiveness and patient experience. Dr. Parsons practices from a scientist-practitioner perspective, integrating research, clinical expertise, and ongoing outcome evaluation into her work. She offers therapy that is warm, empathic, and compassionate, while also active and collaborative. Patients are encouraged to be engaged participants in the therapeutic process, working together toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels respectful and supportive. Dr. Parsons participates in PSYPACT, an interstate compact that allows licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology services across state lines. Through secure web-based services, she is able to work not only with patients in Utah but also with residents of many participating states across the U.S. (currently 43).
