As a board-certified psychiatrist, I specialize in reproductive psychiatry and consultation–liaison psychiatry. My journey into psychiatry began during a medical school rotation in child and adolescent psychiatry, which revealed the transformative power of mental health care. This experience ignited a passion that led me to pursue psychiatry as my true calling. My educational background, which includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, a Medical Degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, and additional specialized training in general adult psychiatry from NYU School of Medicine, has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients with complex medical circumstances, including but not limited to pregnancy, and the impact of chronic illness. Throughout my career, I have collaborated closely with medical and surgical teams to ensure that mental health is prioritized alongside physical care. My research endeavors aim to improve patient outcomes and empower individuals to navigate their mental health journeys with confidence. I have co-authored several significant publications, including works on healthcare disparities in behavioral emergency management and psychiatric considerations in perinatal mental illness. My research on the psychological side effects of hormonal contraception and contraceptive counseling underscores the importance of validating patient experiences and fostering open communication between patients and physicians.
