Hi, I'm Dr. Allie (Allison Meins, PsyD), a Licensed Psychologist. I specialize in working with adults & teens as they navigate anxiety, perfectionism, self-worth, relationship and communication issues, grief & loss, and life's many unexpected challenges. Whether you are a teenager feeling the pressure of college acceptances (or dreaming of a life path that doesn’t involve college), a college student worrying about making the “right” decision for your career while stressing about your class courses/grades and relationship status, a person in their mid-thirties navigating burnout and struggling with work-life balance, a person going through a significant life change (like divorce or career shifts) trying to manage relationships, work, and “self-care” (whatever that means!), or a person nearing their later life years reflecting on values, relationships, and how you’ve lived…. Therapy with Dr. Allie is a reminder to slow down and share your life experiences, explore your thoughts, get familiar with your feelings, and examine your actions and interactions with others, as a means of (re)connecting with yourself and others. While the outside world is busy telling you who you “should” be and what you “should” care about, I’ll remind you that you deserve to take time to explore the values that matter most to you. My approach is down to earth and my sessions are collaborative, inclusive, and playful. A great day of therapy to me is one that is filled with laughter, crying, anger, and smiles. Life is a roller-coaster and I’m here for the wild, sometimes messy, ride. My goal is to support, encourage, and challenge you to live the life you want to lead and improve your relationships with others, starting with yourself. I never judge my clients, but instead seek to understand them from a place of acceptance. Working with clients from a variety of ages and cultural backgrounds has made me the therapist I am today. Let’s hop in a call to discuss if therapy with me is right for you. I look forward to meeting you soon! For those of you interested in the more technical side of things, I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while speaking to you as a fellow human using a Humanistic and Relational approach. Together, we will explore patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We will strengthen the patterns that already work well for you and look into changing the patterns that are not working so well, so that you can achieve the outcomes you are looking for and live a life of meaning and purpose.
