Introduction

I entered the field of Social Work in 2009 after my LDS/Mormon Mission in Vladivostok, Russia. During this time, I was profoundly impacted by the realization that, as humans, most of us carry unseen generational trauma and unacknowledged pain. I am currently seeing Adults and Teens for individual therapy, Couples for Couples Therapy; please note my “Couple Therapy” is also applicable to ENM relationships, And Family members for Family Therapy; this service is often utilized for individual therapy Clients who would like to add a family session to their therapeutic trajectory. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University. This program, ranked among the top 5 nationally, has profoundly shaped who I am as a Clinician and still influences my therapeutic practice. During my time at Columbia, my training included cross-cultural education focused on systemic violence, oppression, power, privilege, and how marginalized groups and individuals are disproportionately affected. The therapy space has been historically (and presently) dominated by White therapists who unknowingly do harm to marginalized communities. My office is a safe and affirming space for marginalized people who have been disproportionately affected by systemic oppression and social/political injustice. As a therapist licensed in Utah, I am untraditional in many ways. I am open in disclosing my former-LDS background as I have found most Utah therapy Clients prefer this information for peace of mind-given the common therapy rationale of processing religious trauma. Much of my current work includes facilitating a healing process in the context of systemic harm done by religious communities as well as religion-based family systems. While I have been trained in many evidence-based modalities, I do not believe in one true path for therapy. Each therapy client presents with their own unique pain, trauma, needs, and symptoms. In addition to being passionate about this work, I am committed to an effective and personable therapeutic process.
