Feeling overwhelmed, at your wit’s end, uncertain how to untangle everything going on inside your head, or defeated and stressed trying to process our current societal climate? I’m a provisionally licensed, fat, and queer, LCSW who would like to offer non-judgemental care and compassionate support to individuals who are struggling with all of those things and then some. I prefer using strengths-based and person-centered approaches to allow for realistic, attainable, and flexible goals in working through difficult emotions and complicated experiences. The basis of my practice has been supporting individuals who are working through trauma, depression, anxiety, C-/PTSD, building coping strategies, negative self-image, negative self-talk, processing and acknowledging personal identities, and working through difficult family dynamics. I have seven plus years of experience working with individuals of varying abilities and neurodivergence; LGBTQIA2S+ youth and adults; kink and sexual & play exploration; children and families in-home, school, and community settings; bodies at all sizes; and blended cultures. Therapy is an act of resistance, and my goal is to cultivate a space that allows for accessible exploration, problem solving, safety, and healing at all stages and abilities. I look to respect, advocate for, and celebrate a person’s whole self- who they were, as they are, and where they want to be. I use a wide array of intersectional therapeutic techniques that are adaptive to a person’s individualistic needs. I team with individuals looking for services to craft a patchwork of bio-psycho-social approaches that can include but are not limited to: play therapies for all ages and abilities; trauma-focused CBT; somatic therapy strategies; inner child work; parts work; holistic healing modalities; motivational interviewing; CBT and DBT; family systems therapies; imagery therapy; and other modalities. Working on a team of two other practitioners through Well Being Sanctuary, WBS, I am a hybrid practitioner; I offer Simple Practice/ Telehealth appointments as well as in-person visits in my practice's Torrington and Farmington offices. I am currently taking new individuals seeking services and am available Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends (I share scheduling more specifically once individuals interested in services contact me). I take most major insurances except for Optum, Tricare, and Medicare (however, I am happy to refer you to other practitioners if you''d like to reach out, regardless). My agency also works with out-of-pocket payments as well. Any questions or inquiries can be messaged over this domain or emailed to: a.weyward@wellbeingsanctuarywbs.com. Overall, our sessions will revolve around strengthening your own capabilities to manage the tough things, healing that is tailored to the life you want to build for yourself, and hopefully a good laugh or two along the way!
