Introduction

Dr. Young is a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in Florida and New York. Dr. Young has a keen appreciation for the connection between mind and body. She also understands that, for some, psychiatric medications can have side effects that hinder performance, impact physical health, and dampen feelings of vitality. She specializes in evidence-based lifestyle interventions that can minimize the use and adverse effects of psychiatric medications. An additional benefit of this approach is the ability to improve physical health simultaneously with mental health. She treats mental disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), binge eating disorder, and complicated grief. She also works with individuals who wish to maximize their performance, experience greater life satisfaction, and manage distress related to childhood adversity, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, among other things. Therapeutically, Dr. Young most often utilizes mindfulness-based therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). In addition to providing ongoing care, Dr. Young is available to collaborate with other health care providers. She can collaborate with primary care providers to help address psychological and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to chronic health conditions. She is also available for consultation related to prescribing and tapering psychiatric medications.
