Hi, I’m Alyza McMillin, a therapist specializing in postpartum depression and anxiety and the many changes that come with becoming a parent. I became especially drawn to this work after becoming a mom myself. I’ve seen how much can change when you become a parent—not just your daily life, but your identity, relationships, priorities, and sense of yourself. I work with parents who may be struggling with anxiety or depression, feeling overwhelmed by the mental load, navigating ADHD in motherhood, or simply wondering, “Why does this feel so much harder than I thought it would?” I also work with couples as they adjust to life with a new baby and figure out how to stay connected through all of the changes. My goal is to help you understand what’s going on beneath the overwhelm and find practical ways to make life feel more manageable. Therapy can be a place to sort through the parts of parenthood that feel complicated, reconnect with yourself, and build a way of living and parenting that feels sustainable—not like you’re constantly trying to keep up with someone else’s version of what you should be doing. I work with individuals and couples both in person in Oberlin and online throughout Ohio and Texas. If you’re wondering whether therapy might be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk and see if working together feels right.
