Introduction

I’m Amanda Dodson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience walking alongside individuals and families through serious illness, caregiving, grief, and end-of-life transitions. Whether in hospital rooms, oncology clinics, or the quiet of someone’s home, I’ve learned how powerful it can be to simply have space to speak, process, and be heard. My role is to hold that space—steadily, compassionately, and without judgment—so you don’t have to carry everything alone. At Denver Health, I worked in the emergency room and on general medicine floors, leading family meetings and helping patients and providers find clarity in moments of medical crisis. Later, as a hospice social worker, I spent my days in people’s living rooms—listening to their stories, helping families talk about what mattered most, and supporting caregivers who were doing their best under incredibly hard circumstances. I also helped rebuild and expand a home-based palliative care program, turning it into a more accessible, sustainable service for families who needed support but weren't quite ready for hospice. At the University of Colorado Hospital, I provided individual and group counseling in the outpatient oncology clinic, helping patients and their loved ones cope with the emotional weight of cancer—through treatment, recovery, and the uncertainty that often follows. I bring honesty, warmth and calm to each session, honor your unique values, emotions, and goals. Whatever chapter you’re facing, you don’t have to do it alone—and I’d be honored to support you through it.
