Introduction

Welcome! Taking the step to begin therapy is a brave and meaningful choice, and I want you to know how proud I am of you for starting this journey. Reaching out for support shows courage, strength, and a deep commitment to your own healing and growth. I specialize in helping individuals navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, trauma, and anger management, as well as providing dedicated support for teens as they face the unique struggles of adolescence. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, with a strong focus on creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your story, process difficult emotions, and develop tools for lasting change. Two of my primary areas of expertise are EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These evidence-based approaches are highly effective for addressing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other challenges. EMDR helps clients work through painful memories in a safe way, reducing their emotional intensity while strengthening resilience, while CBT provides practical strategies to challenge negative thought patterns and build healthier ways of coping. Whether you are dealing with overwhelming anxiety, persistent feelings of sadness, struggles with obsessive thoughts, or difficulties managing anger, my goal is to walk alongside you with care and understanding. Together, we will uncover new perspectives, build healthy coping strategies, and empower you to move toward the life you want to create. No matter where you are starting from, healing is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone. – Amanda Gerko, LSW, EMDRT
