Hi, I’m Amanda Kennedy, LCSW. Founder of Mend & Move Therapy, PLLC and a therapist who believes healing is both a science and an art. I didn’t set out to be a therapist. I became one because of what I witnessed. My journey into this work wasn’t linear, it was lived. After moving from Georgia to Texas, I began my career in foster care, serving children and families navigating trauma, instability, loss, and reunification. I sat with kids who had lived through things no child should endure. I worked with parents fighting to rebuild their lives. I witnessed cycles of trauma, attachment wounds, patterns of survival, and the profound impact the right therapist could make. Those years shaped everything I believe about humans — their resilience, their pain, their potential, and their capacity for transformation. I saw how trauma sits in the body. How unspoken stories shape relationships. How people lose themselves and slowly find their way back. And it became clear: I wanted to be the therapist who helped people heal at the source, not just survive the moment. So I pursued my Master’s in Social Work, obtained my clinical license, and committed myself to creating a therapy practice built on compassion, clarity, and meaningful change. I believe the body often whispers what the mind hasn’t found words for yet. Stress, trauma, and emotional pain live not only in our thoughts, but in our breath, our posture, our muscles, and the way we move through the world. Healing means paying attention to those quieter stories — the ones held in the chest, the shoulders, the jaw, the gut. In my work, I incorporate gentle, trauma-informed mind–body practices such as grounding, breathwork, mindful movement, and even walking sessions when appropriate. These aren’t exercise programs or yoga classes, but supportive therapeutic tools that help the nervous system settle and create space for deeper emotional work. Sometimes healing happens while sitting still; sometimes it happens as we move, breathe, or reconnect with the body’s natural rhythm. When we honor the mind and body together, therapy becomes more than insight. It becomes a return to yourself. I create a space where teens feel respected, not lectured; supported, not judged. Parents often appreciate my ability to build trust with adolescents while also offering thoughtful insight and guidance. My adult clients often say they appreciate that my therapeutic approach is both deeply compassionate and quietly direct, someone who can hold complexity, challenge patterns with care, and help them reconnect with their own clarity and strength. I bring a blend of clinical skill and real-world depth into every session because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s deeply personal. It’s sacred. And it deserves a therapist who can hold the full weight of your story without judgment. If you’re sensitive and feel things deeply… If you fear you’re “too much,” and yet somehow still “not enough”… I want you to know this: You are not too much. Your emotions make sense. Your story matters. Your healing is possible. And you don’t have to carry this alone. I’m here. And we’ll take the next steps together to mend your past and move into your future.
