Amanda is a mental health professional with more than a decade of experience working with children and families. She has dedicated her time to supporting others during life's most challenging transitions, working both directly with families as well as indirectly through program development. She began her career as a Psychologist in Spain, where she was born and raised, and completed her studies in developmental psychology and attachment. Out of her curiosity to better understand the social determinants of human well-being, Amanda earned a merit scholarship and pursued her Master's in Clinical Social Work in West Philadelphia. Amanda has lived in the US for almost a decade and considers herself a citizen of the world. Amanda has traveled to more than 30 states and lived in Germany where she participated in an exchange program. Amanda’s therapeutic approach is rooted in attachment and psychodynamic theories but she integrates other evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Amanda prioritizes a client-centered, relational approach to meet clients where they are and utilizes a strengths-based perspective, intersectional and feminist anti-oppression lenses, and cross-cultural psychology principles in her practice. Amanda has worked in medical and school settings. The perinatal field has always been a passion of hers as she understands well the emotional and practical challenges that caregivers often face. Amanda has been a firm advocate for the mental health of immigrant families, and she has written research papers about the consequences of discrimination on the mental health of this population. Amanda has also taught university courses on human sexuality and children at risk. Amanda is thrilled to be part of the PFWC Team to utilize her experience in perinatal mental health to both support clinicians in program development as well as to provide direct therapy to clients in the form of individual psychotherapy, couples psychotherapy, family therapy, play therapy, caregiver coaching/support, and Circle of Security group facilitation. Amanda's commitment to self-care includes traveling, hiking, reading good thrillers, learning new languages, and practicing yoga. Amanda can provide services in English, Spanish, and Catalan. She is fluent in German and speaks beginner Russian, French, and Chinese, as part of her commitment to embracing other forms of perceiving the world.
