Introduction

Relationships shape so much of who we are. They can become places of joy, belonging, and healing, but they can also carry hurt, disappointment, and uncertainty. I believe that even when relationships feel strained or broken, they often hold far more potential for healing and restoration than we realize. My passion is helping individuals, couples, and families better understand themselves and one another so they can create stronger, healthier, and more meaningful connections. I love learning what it means to be fully human, and I bring that same curiosity into every counseling session, seeking to understand each client's lived experience of life, relationships, and meaning. Each person carries a unique story shaped by their experiences, values, relationships, and hopes for the future. Rather than assuming what someone needs, I believe in taking the time to truly understand who they are and what matters most to them. As Sue Johnson writes in Love Sense, "To be human is to need others, and this is no flaw or weakness." That belief anchors my work. Connection is not something we outgrow. It is our history, our foundation, our scaffolding, and it holds remarkable power for healing and transformation. I believe hope is a powerful force, one that has allowed for endurance and resilience throughout my own life. I hold the conviction that each of us carries the capacity both to wound and to heal, and that acting from our wounds is not the truest or most enduring part of who we are. I believe marriage and family are remarkably resilient and capable of far more healing, restoration, and growth than we often expect. My academic training is in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. My clinical training includes Levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method for couples, and I have completed an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) externship, the first step toward full EFT certification. My work is informed by person centered, psychodynamic, and systemic approaches and is held within an existential, humanistic, and strengths based understanding of each person and family. As the wife of a special operations soldier, I know firsthand the demands that military life, distance, and transition can place on a marriage and a family. It was my own desire for marital and generational change that ultimately led me to pursue this work. I believe deeply in fighting for goodness, beauty, and love, and I consider it an honor to help clients pursue those same things within themselves, their relationships, and their families. It is a responsibility I hold with humility and seriousness, and one I never take lightly. Before military life I spent the early part of my life on a farm in southern Ohio where my grandparents raised pigs and grew tobacco. I moved with my mom and siblings to Oregon where I went to high school and college. Parts of me still belong to both places. I have enjoyed our time living in Colorado and recently have taken up fly fishing. I also enjoy hiking and skiing (both at a relaxed pace, please), drawing, listening to all sorts of audiobooks and podcasts, and reading aloud to my kids. Whether you are working through conflict, navigating a life transition, strengthening your marriage, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, my hope is that counseling becomes a place where healing, connection, and hope can take root.
