At some point you look around and think "Is this what being an adult is supposed to feel like?" You've been doing all the "right" things. Working. Showing up. Keeping life moving. But your version of normal is starting to feel like running too many tabs on an old laptop. Things are glitching, you're buffering, and you've basically been running on caffeine and willpower for longer than you want to admit. And the ways you've always handled things (like the habits, the go-to moves, the "this is just how I deal" stuff) isn't really holding up anymore. What used to get you through the day now leaves you streched thin. A part of you is starting to wonder if it's time to try something different before your brain throws a metaphorical "unexpected error" message. Hi, I'm Amanda Odell (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I've spent the last decades helping people in this stretch of life where things quietly stop feeling okay. You're moving through your days, doing what you've always done, but something feels heavier... or just... off. You're ready for life to feel more like yours again. My work is all about helping you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more capable of living a life that doesn't require constant over-functioning or emotional duct tape. You get to feel like a whole person. Not just someone keeping everything running in the background. In private practice, I focus on relationships. The relationships we hold. The relationships we let go of. And the relationships we’re still figuring out. I enjoy working with parents and people navigating life transitions, whether that’s new stages of adulthood, parenting, or shifts in relationships. Common themes we explore include communication, family patterns across generations, and breaking cycles of over-functioning. In session, I blend collaboration, reflection, practical tools, and a little humor. Therapy with me is about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that already carry the capacity to heal, using your own strengths and wisdom. My hope is that you leave feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more capable of shaping a life that feels truly yours. Outside of therapy, I recharge with small joys: crafting, painting, a little fitness and fresh air, curling up with a warm blanket and a sweet treat, and listening to podcasts or music. But trust me, sometimes I also scroll too much, skip workouts, or just want to disappear under the covers. I’ve never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try (especially at self-care). And that’s okay. Those messy, imperfect moments remind me that growth isn’t always tidy. It keeps me grounded in why curiosity, creativity, and connection matter so much in life and in therapy. I strive to create an inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive space. I’m mindful of the limits of my own perspective and commit to ongoing learning and reflection. You are the expert in your life, and your identities—visible or invisible, simple or complex—matter here. I welcome open conversations so you can assess whether we’re the right fit. If you're curious about what working together might be like, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. Reach out when you're ready. I'd love to meet you! Insurance & Pricing: I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. Starting December 1, 2025, I will be in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Carelon insurance plans. My cost per 50-minute session is $165. Want to use your insurance benefits? While I don't accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. I can help with out-of-network benefits. Plans that typically accept out-of-network providers include: PPO plans, POS plans, Tricare Select, and Original Medicare. However, plans do vary greatly between companies and programs, and I’m happy to check your insurance benefits and provide you an estimate for free. We can then discuss options to make therapy as accessible as possible for you. I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions post-deductible, instead of paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save on average 70% upfront on our sessions. During our intake process, I can help you verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much your copay would be. For any session fees, Thrizer does charge either 1% or 5% of my fee, depending on how quickly you want your reimbursement. If you want to avoid the 1-5% charge from Thrizer, I can provide you a superbill for you to work with your insurance directly. EMDR: I am currently EMDRIA-Trained, working towards EMDR Level I Certification. Some clients prefer longer EMDR processing sessions to move through their trauma faster. I offer EMDR intensives, which are 90 minute sessions, at $247 per session. Please let me know if you are interested in this so I can schedule with you accordingly. You may also schedule 50-minute EMDR sessions at the typical $165 session rate. I am comfortable providing EMDR-adjunct therapy, meaning, you stay with your current therapist and meet with me only for EMDR processing. This requires an EMDR assessment (at the 50-minute session rate) to determine if you and your therapist are a candidate for this set up.
