Introduction

Welcome to Unicorn Therapy! My name is Amanda, and my practice is currently part time, with available hours on the weekends and some weekday afternoons. I provide individual, ADHD coaching and parent coaching sessions to all age ranges and populations with areas of experience in trauma, neurodiversity, cognitive disorders, behavioral/emotional/mood regulation, attachment/relationship exploration, gender and sexual identity issues, late life neurodivergence diagnosis and life transitions (teen to adulthood, launching into adulthood, mid-life, empty nesting and retirement transitions). I have training/experience in various models (DBT, CBT, EMDR, ABFT, Narrative and Solution Focused Therapy, etc.). My primary area of specialty is working with adolescents with severe mental health concerns, trauma and complex family histories. I have worked with teens going on 10 years in various settings (school based, homeless shelter and PHP), allowing me to provide truly individualized therapy no matter the diagnosis or background of the teen. I enjoy working with teens, because they are so smart, have so much resilience, inner strength, and are often underestimated. They really just need someone to believe in them, not feel judged, feel heard and be given the chance to discover that they have power within them and are not something broken that needs to be fixed. My approach is caring, compassionate and also direct, holding my clients accountable. I am neurodivergent (ADHD), have a big personality and am passionate about the work I do. So, if you/your teen likes therapists with soft voices, that don't talk much, say things like "how does that make you feel," and then stare at you/them for 20 minutes, then I'm not a good fit. If you/your teen likes to laugh, have space to express your/their emotions, be respected and can handle direct feedback, then I'm your/their person. Unicorn Therapy accepts Medicaid (MA), BCBS, Health Partners/Cigna, Optum (United Behavioral Health/Medica), and UCare. Private Pay and sliding scale options available. Please contact Amanda for more information on rates.
