Introduction

Dr. Amarjot Surdhar, M.D. Double Board-Certified Psychiatrist | General & Addiction Psychiatry For more than 15 years, I have helped people feel like themselves again, whether they're facing anxiety, depression, burnout, or a difficult relationship with alcohol or other substances. I am board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both General and Addiction Psychiatry. After residency at Jamaica Hospital, I completed my addiction fellowship at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Health. I then spent seven years leading its outpatient addiction recovery services, where colleagues regularly referred me their most complex cases: those where substance use, mood, anxiety, and family dynamics overlap. Today, many of the people I work with are executives, physicians, attorneys, and creative professionals who carry a lot and have little time to spare. We start with a thorough evaluation and a clear plan, then pair careful medication management with practical, evidence-based strategies that adjust as your life changes. You can expect unhurried appointments, discretion, and a doctor who knows your story. I see patients in person at my Madison Avenue office in Midtown Manhattan and by telehealth in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, and California. If you're ready to feel steadier and sharper, I'd be glad to meet you.
