Amina Benkhoukha holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Health Emphasis from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. Dr. Benkhoukha’s clinical specialty is in the assessment and treatment of stress and trauma related disorders, obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders, and autism spectrum disorder, particularly with complex comorbid medical presentations. She completed advanced specialty training in evidence-based treatments of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury, and other serious mental illnesses while working with military veterans at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bronx, New York. Dr. Benkhoukha also completed a yearlong internship at Northwell Health’s Military Families Center in Bayshore, New York, where she worked with families, adults, adolescents, children and couples. Dr. Benkhoukha is clinically trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. Additionally, Dr. Benkhoukha has extensive training in psychiatric and neuropsychiatric assessment, including tests of IQ, personality, executive function, and academic performance.
