Sometimes life is really unfair. Trauma happens, mental health conditions feel insurmountable, relationships are both ever-changing and complex, and we're managing all this along with the demands of school, work, family, and social obligations. Setting out to find a therapist- one who really *fits* your personality and needs- is such an act of courage. It's also evidence that deep down, despite all the obstacles and bleakness, you feel hopeful that things can change. My name is Amy Butler Angell, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. I've been serving as a therapist since 2015, and my areas of specialty include helping folx overcome and heal from sexual trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and varying experiences for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Therapeutic work with me follows three main assumptions: you are the expert on your own experience (and I am merely present to serve as a guide and an encourager, and to ask the right questions), our trusting and consistent therapeutic relationship comes above all else, and that healing from trauma occurs with greatest success within the context of safe and trusting relationships. I'm not the perfect therapist for everyone, and it is my greatest hope that you'll find a therapist whose personality and approach really click for you. Reach out to me to schedule a 15 minute consultation, free of charge, to see if I'd be the right support person for you! I'd be honored to hear what brought you to seek therapy, and to answer any questions you might have.
