About Ananya: Ananya Khanna, MA, AMFT, believes that every story matters and that healing looks different for each individual. Her work is rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and deep respect for the unique path each client is on. Whether someone is processing pain, navigating a major life transition, or simply exploring themselves more fully, Ananya meets clients where they are with warmth and care. As a therapist with a transnational background, Ananya brings lived experience to her understanding of culture and identity. She recognizes that mental health is shaped by the intersections of identity, family systems, and environment, and she creates space for all of these layers to be explored with openness and thoughtfulness. For her, therapy is a place to slow down, make meaning, and be met with compassion rather than judgment—a space where people can simply exist as they are. Clinical Experience and Approach: Ananya has experience working with children, young adults, families, individuals, and groups in both in-person and telehealth settings. She supports clients navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and identity concerns, grief, adjustment difficulties, and crisis situations. Her approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based, with an emphasis on somatic and mindfulness practices that connect mind and body. She integrates a variety of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), motivational interviewing, and depth-oriented approaches. Ananya tailors strategies to the unique needs of each client, ensuring that therapy is collaborative, individualized, and never one-size-fits-all. Her professional competencies include crisis intervention, risk assessment, group therapy, psychoeducation, and telehealth. Across all areas of her work, Ananya is committed to culturally responsive and ethical practice, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration. Education and Training: Ananya earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science with a minor in Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California, Irvine. She provides therapy in both English and Hindi, making her practice accessible to a wide range of clients. Outside of Therapy: Beyond her clinical work, Ananya is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys exploring new parts of the world, and values spending time with friends. These personal interests reflect her commitment to connection, curiosity, and compassion values she brings into her work with clients every day.
