Hello, My name is Anayiah Howard (pronounced Ah-nay-yah) and I am excited to be a part of the canfield counseling team. I have a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Development with a minor in Childhood Development and Psychology. I am currently finishing my master’s in clinical mental health counseling with an emphasis in childhood/adolescent disorders. In regard to occupation, I work as a Licensed Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapist (RBT) with Advanced Autism Services. I have been an RBT for 5 years, working with autistic children of all backgrounds of culture, race, and gender; helping them become independent learners. I use a variety of behavioral intervention strategies such as incidental teaching, naturalistic teaching, error correction, discrete trial teaching, shaping, chaining, stimulus control transfer, and visuals to help children meet their goals across various settings. As an intern at canfield counseling, I look forward to working with the child/adolescent population, using a variety of therapeutic methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, play therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and many others. Under the supervision, I plan to learn more about play therapy and trauma informed care in efforts of specializing in these fields. I have a strong passion for working with children as they need advocates to help them meet their personal goals in a safe therapeutic setting. I look forward to working with clients that come from various backgrounds and provide them with tools to help their growth/healing journey”.
