*Accepting new clients in NJ and FL for Telehealth* I’m Dr. Andrew Philip, a licensed psychologist and a clinical health psychologist by training. I have dedicated my career to improving the human condition- through direct clinical care, training and teaching healthcare professionals, writing, advocacy, and for the past 10 years, leading large-scale healthcare transformation efforts to improve healthcare for all. I maintain a small private practice as I truly love working with clients and practicing the art of psychotherapy. I typically work with just a few clients at any given (typically early evenings and Sunday mornings), and when I do have a new opening, I try to ensure the absolute best fit with potential clients so our time together is meaningful. I help people learn to cope and thrive in the presence of experiences like stress, conditions like pain and insomnia, sadness, and feelings of hopelessness. I have worked with people from just about every walk of life- women, men, LGBTQ+ folks, grandparents, doctors, students, active duty service members and veterans, executives and HNWIs, and people who just generally consider themselves 'wanderers'. I also help people going through understandably difficult experiences: life transitions (starting college, a new job, or a new situation), grief and loss of loved ones, and some of the more philosophical parts of life like finding meaning and value in existence or things that seem like they should feel 'good', but just don't. I am a little different from traditional psychologists or counselors in that my background is in primary care; in that sense visits with me are therapeutic, but straight forward and not too "fluffy." People I work with often find this refreshing, especially if they aren't comfortable with a more stereotypical style of traditional mental health counseling. I also offer a therapeutic modality called Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP): the use of ketamine as a complement to psychotherapy. I deliver KAP in my practice in partnership with an organization called Journey Clinic, which has a specialized medical team that determines eligibility for KAP, prescribes ketamine lozenges, & supports me in monitoring outcomes. I am a good fit if you are looking for an easy conversation style free of judgement, that is change-oriented, meaningful and clear. Because I have limited availability and am a solo practitioner, I am NOT a great fit if you are struggling with severe mental illnesses like unmanaged bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, psychiatric hospitalization, severe substance use disorders, anticipate needing legal references or documentation, or if you feel you may need in-person visits. Most importantly, I go into our work together as a partner and a facilitator, and I already know you are fundamentally good. Both of our jobs will be to align this internal value and worth with the rest of your life and environment.
