Introduction

Are you ready to transform your story? Away from the limitations of what you have been told you are and towards the you that you truly want to be? If you’re feeling stuck, broken, alone, or exhausted from a never ending loop of worries - I am here to hold space for you. If you’re seeking to lean into your inherent wisdom and unique potential - I am also here to help you expand your vision of what’s possible for your life. The most important aspect for a positive outcome in counseling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Throughout our work together I intend to make sure you feel seen, heard, safe, and celebrated. What you’ll gain from working together: -Deeper self compassion -Better ability to regulate your nervous system -Healing from attachment wounds -Greater calm and confidence Trauma leaves parts of us stuck, but it also lays the roots for immense resilience. The ginkgo tree is one of the oldest species of trees on the earth. This is why I chose it as a symbol to represent our healing space. Native to Asia, the ginkgo tree is also an homage to my Asian heritage and the gift that has been my bicultural experience as a child of Korean immigrants. In our work together we will honor and celebrate the rich cultures that shape you and the ancestral wisdom that brought you to this very moment. The day I first encountered a ginkgo tree, I was struck by wonder and curiosity for the unique fan shaped leaf. It is with this sense of curiosity and wonder that we will engage in your healing. Whether your trauma experiences are big (single event), complex (repeated and ongoing), or inherited (historical, cultural, intergenerational) I will be your compassionate witness. There to celebrate you as you bloom and discover parts of yourself that have been hidden away. While we are on that journey we will also look at the unique abilities, strengths, and inner resources within you, put them out into the sun, and water them. I utilize brainspotting - a powerful, deeply relational, brain and body based therapy. Focused eye positions and biolateral music are used to hone in on emotional experiences held in the limbic brain. This goes beyond traditional talk therapy and trusts in your brain’s own brilliance and healing abilities. I am privileged to work from beautiful Dena’ina Elnena, homelands of the Dena’ina Athabascan people who have stewarded the land for thousands of years before us. They continue to show us how to live as an integrated part of the natural world around us. At my practice you will find affirming care that acknowledges the ways systems of oppression harm us all. You will find solidarity in building a world that unifies and connects us as a human family. My educational background is in clinical mental health counseling (MA, Northwestern University, 2022) and art and design (BFA, Rhode Island School of Design, 2013). I have years of experience working in the nonprofit sector serving under-resourced and marginalized communities, including community mental health clinics. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Alaska. I use brainspotting, EMDR, mindfulness, and ego state therapies. My approach is also informed by polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and a deep reverence for the human spirit. I believe my own life is deeply enriched by my client's lives. Seeing the human will rise to meet challenges, learning the unique perspective and capabilities each individual carries, truly inspires my spirit. It is this belief I carry and meet you with in the therapy room.
