Angela is a Licensed Mental Health counselor dedicated to making her clients feel understood and empowered to overcome mental and emotional obstacles and build lasting resilience. Through a person-centered approach, she creates a non-judgmental space for her clients to explore their vulnerabilities. Angela believes in making the therapeutic experience enjoyable and relaxing, and will occasionally crack a joke or two with her clients. Angela’s experiences growing up in South Florida and frequent travels to Colombia to visit family have exposed her to diverse cultures. As a bilingual therapist, she understands and values how culture and family can mold an individual’s experiences and perceptions of mental health disorders. Angela is passionate about breaking barriers and stigma to mental health in Hispanic/LatinX communities. She has also worked specifically with immigrants and families in school-based and private practice settings including Mexican, Cuban, Haitian, and South Asian populations. Angela is also an advocate of the LGBTQIA+ community and has worked with individuals dealing with anxiety about dating and societal barriers that disproportionately affect the mental health of this community. Angela has worked with people from all walks of life dealing with issues related to grief, divorce, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, and more. She has worked with teens, young adults, couples, new moms, and seniors. If you choose to work with Angela, she will meet you where you are at. She believes that therapy is not a race but a journey to self-exploration and growth. As a therapist, she serves as a guide, helping you navigate the messy, turbulent, and beautiful journey called life. As a client, you decide the direction you want to take.
