Introduction

My name is Angie Canfield, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapy trainee currently completing my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Professional Clinical Counseling at the University of Massachusetts Global. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My interest in the mental health field began while working with a psychologist and executive coach, where I witnessed how increased self-awareness, relational insight, and personal accountability can support healthier relationships and meaningful change. That experience, along with my own exploration of the connections between mind, body, and emotions, helped shape my systems-oriented approach to working with clients. My approach is relational and strengths-based, grounded in the belief that each person already holds the capacity for growth and change. Meaningful change often begins with gaining new perspective and understanding the patterns that shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. I have a particular interest in helping clients understand the underlying patterns and experiences that shape their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Using a collaborative and solution-focused style, I work alongside clients to recognize their inner resources, clarify meaningful goals, and move forward with greater confidence and perspective. I especially enjoy supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-doubt, life transitions, relationship challenges, and concerns related to substance use. Creating a welcoming and supportive space where clients feel understood and respected is central to my work. I recognize that seeking support can feel vulnerable, and therapy can provide an opportunity to explore experiences, develop insight, and move toward a more grounded and fulfilling life. My education in philosophy, art, and art history helped cultivate my appreciation for culture, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Outside of my clinical training, I enjoy yoga, hiking, skiing, cooking, music, and learning about nutrition and wellness. I value maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle and spending time with family and friends.
