Introduction

Annelise provides therapy to children ages 9+, teens, and adults. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from North Carolina State University. She is trauma-informed and certified in Psychological First Aid by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, as well as QPR Suicide Prevention Training. She is eager to serve individuals from all backgrounds and has a heart for those experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and job or school performance issues. She is also equipped to integrate Christian faith principles into her counseling approach at the client’s preference. Annelise recognizes the courage and initiative it takes to pursue counseling, and she truly believes that anyone can experience growth and healing with the right support. She takes a strengths-based approach, helping clients to identify their values and motivations, and to live them out well. She enjoys blending a variety of evidence-based approaches and highly values the collaborative process of counseling in which both counselor and client bring their authentic selves to session, since ample research continues to suggest that the #1 contributing factor to successful counseling is a strong therapeutic alliance. Annelise aims to create a space for her clients where they are 1) comfortable enough to trust that they are valued, accepted, and safe, and 2) challenged enough that they can make the progress that they want and deserve to see, and grow more confident in their capacity for resilience and change. Annelise meets with clients both in-person and virtually. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exercising, eating good food, being outside as much as possible (but only when it's warm!), and spending quality time with her loved ones.
