Ashley Battle is an MFT Trainee here at Matthews Family Counseling. She is currently a graduate student specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy with an anticipated graduation in March of 2026 and has over 5 years of experience in the field, including her work as a Functional Movement Therapist and with minors in educational and therapeutic settings. She has experience working with adults and teens, and values the opportunity to support their personal growth and emotional well-being. She also loves working with couples and families as she enjoys supporting relational dynamics and helping clients strengthen communication and connection. She is motivated by the fact that she gets to witness healing and growth firsthand. Supporting clients in their most vulnerable moments and helping them feel seen and empowered is a true honor for her. Ashley utilizes many different treatment modalities. Some of these include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Bowen Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). She has experience working with clients facing grief, anxiety, adjustment issues, and relational challenges. However, she is open to seeing clients facing a multitude of other challenges as she feels it is important for her learning and growth as a clinician. Choosing a career in the mental health field was an easy decision for Ashley as she is very passionate about helping others through emotionally challenging times. Her somatic background helped her understand the deep connection between the mind and body, so becoming a therapist felt like a natural next step for her to help people truly heal and cope. She is also committed to creating an affirming and safe space for LGBTQ+ clients. Coming from a cultural background herself, she understands cultural humility and approaches each client with openness to their unique lived experiences. One of the things she loves most about being a mental health professional is witnessing moments of growth when clients feel seen, gain insight, and start trusting themselves. It’s fulfilling to hold space for their healing and transformation. She looks forward to sharing many more of these moments with her clients.
