Introduction

Aujanae McKinney, CADC II, MSW Intern I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work degree at LSU and hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland Global Campus. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (CADC II) with a deep commitment to serving individuals navigating complex mental health and substance use challenges. I have over 14 years of dedicated service in the United States Navy, where I currently work as a Substance Abuse Counselor and mental health professional. My background includes providing crisis intervention, clinical assessment, and group counseling to service members. I have also worked in community group home settings, facilitating therapy and fostering emotional growth for residents facing daily life challenges. My therapeutic approach is patient-centered and strengths-based. I believe in the power of advocacy and creating a safe, judgment-free space where clients can feel heard and empowered. Drawing from my military and clinical experience, I have a particular passion for working with veterans, individuals with dual diagnoses, and those moving through crisis toward recovery. As an intern at Summit, I work under the direct supervision of the agency’s licensed clinical supervisors to ensure the highest quality of care for my clients.
