Introduction

Personalized Care. Evidence-Based Practice. Whole-Person Healing. Dr. Avital Fischer is a devoted advocate for personalized, compassionate psychiatric care. Grounded in evidence-based medicine, she understands that while research provides valuable insights, individuals are more than statistics. She sees each patient as a whole person—shaped by biology, life experiences, and environment—and works collaboratively to support meaningful, lasting change. Her approach is rooted in positive psychiatry, a strengths-based perspective that helps patients build on what’s already working, discover their inner resilience, and move toward the life they want to create. Education: * BSc. - Biology; minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences - MIT * MD- University of California, Irvine * PhD - Epidemiology, University of California, Irvine Residency Training: * Stanford Health Care, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Dr. Avital Fischer is currently a clinical scholar at Stanford and T32 research fellow. Her current research projects include: - Loneliness in Women, using data from the Women’s Health Initiative - Physician Well-being, through her work with Stanford’s WellMD Center - Post-Traumatic Stress and Growth, particularly in Israeli populations In her words: "I became a psychiatrist because I love people and biology. Your stories and the ability to help you are what make this work so fulfilling. Luckily, we are at a point in history where we appreciate the multifactorial contributors to mental health. We know that mental health is influenced by our genetics, biology, psychology and environment. Thankfully we have treatments that can be tailored to the individual based on understanding the interplay of all these factors. I am excited to get to know you and help you in this formative process called life." ~Dr. Avital Fischer
