Becky Hanna, MS Ed., tLMHC Becky earned her Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University and is a temporarily licensed mental health counselor in Iowa. She has worked in counseling-related roles since 2008, including serving as a drug treatment specialist in a federal prison and working for the past ten years as a vocational counselor. Becky works with adults and couples from all backgrounds. She believes you do not need to be in crisis or have everything figured out before coming to counseling. Sometimes life feels heavy, complicated, or simply “off,” and it can help to have a safe, nonjudgmental person to talk with. Whether you are facing a specific challenge, navigating a change, feeling overwhelmed, or just need a place to sort through your thoughts, Becky will meet you where you are. She provides LGBTQ+ affirming care and welcomes people of all identities and backgrounds. Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Becky helps clients better understand the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for meaningful change. Her approach is collaborative and grounded in meeting people where they are. She can be straightforward—with a touch of humor—but is also compassionate and understanding. Her goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, and comfortable being themselves. Becky believes counseling can be viewed as a “mental tune-up.” You do not have to wait until things get “that bad” to benefit from talking with someone. Counseling can help you work through a specific concern, gain a different perspective, or simply take better care of your mental and emotional well-being. Outside of counseling, Becky enjoys woodworking and spending time creating things in her shop. Reaching out is often the hardest part. Come on—let’s chat.
