Introduction

Benigno “Benny” Amato works with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on adolescents and young adults navigating emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. Benny is committed to providing a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, validated, and supported as they explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change. Benny’s clinical interests include working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship and family conflict, and the emotional impact of divorce and other significant life transitions. He has a particular interest in helping individuals struggling with addiction and unhealthy patterns of dependency, including both substance use and behavioral addictions. Benny recognizes that these challenges often extend beyond the behavior itself and works with clients to better understand the emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns that may contribute to them. Benny’s counseling style is primarily rooted in person-centered therapy while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based approaches, and other evidence-based interventions tailored to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals. He works collaboratively with clients to identify obstacles to growth, recognize unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping skills, and develop practical tools that can be applied outside of the therapy room. Central to Benny’s approach is the belief that meaningful change occurs within a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, trust, authenticity, and mutual respect. Rather than approaching therapy as a one-size-fits-all process, he strives to understand each client within the context of their relationships, experiences, values, and individual circumstances. Benny is passionate about helping clients develop greater self-awareness, strengthen their relationships, and build the confidence and skills necessary to navigate life’s challenges. His goal is to provide a supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered to make positive changes and move toward healthier, more fulfilling, and meaningful lives.
