I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and I moved to the states in 2004 to pursuit my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. As a military spouse, I had the opportunity to travel and live in several states including Georgia, Virginia, Kentucky, and Florida. After completing my Doctor of Psychology program at the George Washington University, I fulfilled my Internship duties in Louisville, Kentucky with a focus on family systems and child psychology. This was an amazing experience that grounded me on the psycho- therapeutic skills that I later incorporated in my work with the Veteran population during my tenure at the Department of Veterans Affairs. I received extensive training in Substance Use Disorders Treatment at the Orlando VA Medical Center which has become one of my specialty services alongside with treatment for Depression, Anxiety, and Trauma Disorders. My approach is client centered and holistic with therapeutic interventions based on Mindfulness, Whole Health, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, CBT, and Yoga. I believe that the person is conformed of multiple components including the mind, body, and spirit. When one of these areas is out of alignment, it affects the other areas of the self. Poor diet, addictions, ineffective interpersonal relationships, conflicts, unhealthy attachments, lack of spiritual connection, and history of trauma can all interfere with the balance between our mind, body, and the spirit leading to the development of mental and physical illness. I will work with your goals, meeting you were you are at this point in life, and helping you accomplish your view of a healthier life.
