Introduction

I am the founder of Ashore Psychology and a Licensed Psychologist in California. My approach is client-centered, with the belief that people are capable of making positive changes in their lives when provided with the appropriate tools and support. I create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore, reflect and gain perspective on your life experiences and challenges. I adjust my treatment plans based on your goals and presenting concerns. I adhere to evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to assist in understanding unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. I strongly focus on the mind-body connection and the importance of incorporating mindfulness and relaxation as key coping strategies. I hope to teach you skills that allow you to roll with the waves of life instead of being swept away by the tides. I spent over a decade living and working in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as a licensed (registered) psychologist. My work in Canada primarily focused on helping adults who were unable to work due to their mental health, physical injuries or illnesses, with the end goal of helping them return to work. As one would imagine, there are a magnitude of reasons that would inhibit the ability to function in daily life and subsequently in a workplace environment. Frequent areas addressed included: Anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress, burn-out, life-transitions, PTSD, substance abuse/dependence, adjustments to medical conditions (e.g. physical injuries, cancer, and chronic pain). If I had to capture how I would describe my work, I would say that I want clients to walk away from treatment feeling that they have been able to “return to life," meaning they are able to truly engage, enjoy, and flourish.
