Dr. Bobbi Gerling is a licensed psychologist who has over 30 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of therapeutic settings and with a wide range of difficulties, including complex trauma, mood disorders, grief and loss, and co-occurring disorders. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and Anchored Relational Therapy (formerly AIR Network). She is also trained in cognitive-behavioral and person-centered therapy. In addition, Dr. Gerling conducts both trauma and psychological evaluations, as well as provides trainings and consultation to providers. In general, a psychological evaluation is given to clients in order to answer specific diagnostic questions and make clear, specific, and reasonable recommendations, in order to improve functioning by taking into account each person’s strengths, complexity, and unique experiences. Trauma-informed evaluations have the same purpose, but they also look at each individual through a trauma lens. In other words, trauma-informed psychological evaluations take into account the theoretical orientation that is used to help understand how trauma impacts an individual and an understanding of appropriate treatment recommendations in order for the individual to function at their most optimal level. Dr. Gerling obtained her bachelor and master of art degrees in Psychology from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. In addition, she earned her doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. She approaches therapy with wisdom, collaboration, empathy, and respect. She strives to create an environment that is non-judgmental and focused on the competency, resilience, and values of the clients she serves.
