Whether you are trying counseling for the first time or looking for someone who feels like a better fit, welcome. I'm glad you're here. My name is Bonnie Dupuis, and I am a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) at Clarté Counseling. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am EMDR-trained and Level II trained through the Gottman Institute in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Through my work and training, I have developed particular interests in helping clients navigate trauma, complex trauma, grief, relationship challenges, attachment wounds, betrayal and infidelity, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ concerns, and the unique experiences that can come with foster care and adoption. As an adoptee, conversations around identity, belonging, connection, and the experiences that shape us hold special meaning for me. My own experiences helped guide me toward the counseling profession and continue to influence the way I approach therapy today. I believe most people make a lot more sense than they think they do. Many of the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns that frustrate us today developed for a reason. Rather than focusing on what's "wrong," I strive to help clients understand themselves more deeply, make sense of their experiences, and build greater compassion for the parts of themselves that have been doing their best to navigate difficult situations. I work with individuals, couples, and families ages 6 and up. My approach is eclectic and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I draw from EMDR, attachment-based approaches, parts work, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and other evidence-based interventions. I also view therapy through a systemic and multicultural lens, recognizing that our experiences are shaped not only by who we are as individuals, but also by our relationships, families, communities, and environments. My style is warm, genuine, and direct. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel understood, respected, and supported while also having space to challenge patterns, explore new perspectives, and grow. Some days that looks like validation and a place to land. Other days it means asking difficult questions, exploring new perspectives, and gently pushing toward growth. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be authentically yourself, deepen your understanding of who you are, strengthen your relationships, and move toward the life you want to build. Whatever brings you here, I look forward to helping you make sense of it together. Let's talk :)
