Introduction
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I use play and expressive arts in therapy and work with children, ages 2 to 12 years old, who may be experiencing emotional issues, behavioral issues, relationship challenges, grief, and life transitions. I have a special interest in Child Centered Play Therapy. Children’s natural language is play and using play in therapy provides the power to help children to figure things out and better understand their world in a way that children naturally communicate. I, as the therapist, use skills to communicate back to them. If we can use the safety of play, expressive arts, and symbolic communication, we can process, express, and heal without having to "talk about it." The quality of the therapeutic relationship is critical to treatment success, and my approach to therapy is to create an accepting and trusting relationship through play, laughter, and expressive arts that allows children to make sense of their world, heal emotionally, and become more confident and empowered.
