I got started as a counselor at a therapeutic high school, where I worked with students with high levels of anxiety, trauma from bullying and abuse, strained family relationships, depression, and low self-esteem. I also facilitated support groups for grief and LGBTQIA+ adolescents. I quickly learned that my goofy personality and openness helped my clients feel comfortable being their authentic self with me, and that the most effective therapy usually incorporated some fun and silliness. I now work with teens and adults. I take a relational approach, creating a safe space for my clients where together we can explore past experiences and relationships that may be contributing to current struggles, and work on building their confidence along with new communication and relationship skills. While the process can be difficult at times, I find that its often enjoyable and fun for my clients. My hope for my clients is that through what they learn and experience in therapy they are able to transform their current relationships, build new relationships, and form a healthy and supportive social circle in which they feel safe and supported being their authentic self in their daily life.
