Introduction

I’m Brittany "Britt" Schroeder, a Licensed Psychotherapist and founder of Kindred Counseling Services. With nearly 20 years in mental health, I serve adults, teens, couples, and families throughout Texas, both in person and online. Whether you’re navigating CPTSD, AuDHD, a season of transition, or challenges in your relationships, my role is to meet you with curiosity, compassion, and to walk alongside you as we make sense of what brought you here. There is something profoundly beautiful about the therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, I am invited into parts of another person’s world that are often unseen by everyone else-their stories, fears, hopes, questions, wounds, patterns, and the parts of themselves they may still be learning to understand. I don't take that invitation lightly. To sit across from another person and be trusted with their mind and heart is an extraordinary privilege. The therapeutic relationship is a unique kind of connection. It is intentional, boundaried, and deeply human. It asks us to set aside assumptions about who someone is supposed to be and become curious about who they actually are. In that space, the usual markers that separate us can become less important. Circumstance may shape our stories differently, but they do not prevent us from finding one another in the sacred therapy space. Therapy is not about a therapist having all the answers or telling someone how to live their life. It is a partnership. I bring clinical knowledge, experience, curiosity, and perspective. My client brings their lived experience, expertise about themselves, courage, and willingness to explore and heal. Together, we make room for what is true. Sometimes that means sitting with pain that has been carried quietly for years. Sometimes it means making sense of something that has never quite made sense. Sometimes it means laughing, getting frustrated, challenging an old belief, grieving what should have been, or discovering that a part of you isn't broken, it has simply been trying very hard to protect you. And sometimes, the most meaningful work is simply having another human being sit with you and say, in one way or another, "I see you. You make sense to me. Let's get curious about this together." That is the part of this work I continue to find remarkable! People allow me into their lives for a season, and they trust me to walk alongside them while they find their way through something. I get to witness people become more honest with themselves, more compassionate toward themselves, more connected in their relationships, and more willing to build a life that actually feels like their own. It is an honor. Not because I have the power to change someone else's life, but because I am sometimes given the privilege of helping someone discover they have more agency, strength, insight, and possibility than they may have realized. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership built on trust, consent, curiosity, and respect. And I am endlessly grateful for the invitation. Healing happens in communion, not in isolation.
