Introduction

Sometimes life becomes overwhelming. Feelings of anxiety and depression become the norm. Or, perhaps it is more than that. In the chaotic cycle of stress, we forget to recognize or take care of our own needs. It is possible to change the cycle. You are taking that first step right now with the courage to search for a little help. You do not have to go through this alone! I’m Brooke Musick, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I am also a Board Certified TeleMental Health provider. I started my practice of counseling during my Master’s degree program at ECU and have continued since graduation (2008). My sessions are all conducted via telehealth, or virtual counseling. In my total of 18+ years of practice, I have worked with people of all ages and in a variety of settings. I specialize in working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, grief and loss, addictions, and life transitions. Everyone is different, and I believe your treatment should be tailored specifically to your needs. I approach therapy using a variety of techniques from evidenced based approaches such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I believe that inside of each of us, we have the innate, or built-in abilities we need to handle life’s struggles. Sometimes we just need a little extra help. Together, we will find ways to use your unique strengths to develop healthy ways to cope with whatever challenges life has thrown your way. My goal as a counselor is to help you develop ways to improve your life. I strive to create a counseling environment that is safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and empathetic; a place where you can feel open to just be yourself. I will be here to support and guide you to as we work together to, resolve personal conflict, alleviate feelings of distress, and enhance your overall health and well-being. You can do this!
